Global Warming and Climate Change

Did you know...

  • that US citizens use 25% of the world's fossil fuels but we’re only 5% of the world's population?
  • that Italians use 22% of the energy that the U.S. uses... and seem to have a “good life”?

How can we as individuals change to sustain our beloved planet? Maybe start by taking a good luck at the cars we’re driving! In the Oct. 18th edition of the Post-Standard (Business section) there was a list of the best gas mileage cars currently available. It started with the Toyota Prius at about 55 mpg. An SUV was even listed (Ford Escape hybrid). Be sure to save the list, oor contact David Ashley for more info ( This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ). We can’t all go out and buy a new car to get lower mileage... but we can make a commitment that the next car we buy will be in the top 10% when it comes to gas mileage. Consider making that commitment to yourself now... and join the TOP TEN CLUB!

Be sure to note the bulletin board at the top of the stairwell going downstairs to RE. It’s all about our church “goingreen” as we work to become a Green Sanctuary. Think about what promise you can make to be a part of that movement. You are invited to “turn over a new leaf”... and write that promise on a leaf (provided) and hang it on the board. Be sure to include your name on that leaf. Note what many in your church family are promising as well.

In the Creekside Chapel each week our children get a visit from the puppet, Sam May. He always has a unique way of teaching us an important lesson about social justice. This fall his lessons are all about the environment and our responsibilities in caring for it. Hooray... Sam is goingreen too!
