MMUUS resolves to end sanctioned torture

A resolution to end sanctioned tortured was passed by an overwhelming majority of MMUUS members present at a Sept. 24 meeting.

The resolution calls for U.S. senators and representatives to exercise due diligence in working to end state-sanctioned torture in order to return this country to a sound ethical and moral footing and to reestablish the country’s standing in the community of nations. It was prepared by the church’s Social Justice Committee after a full year of study.

The resolution has been forwarded to Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer, and Representative James Walsh. Read the full resolution.
