May Memorial Chess & Go Club meets on the 1st Sunday of the month, 1:00 to 4:00 pm, in the social hall at MMUUS at 3800 East Genesee St. Spring 2008 Schedule: January 6, February 3, March 2, April 6, May 4 Monthly Club Meetings — Can anyone play?Yes! Our meetings are free and open to the public. We try to offer lessons for beginners of any age. Bring a chess set to share, if you can. Children are welcome with an adult. Coffee, tea, juice, and cookies are available for a donation, or bring your own snacks. The Games We Play — Chess, Go, and more! ![]() We also play the 4,000 year old Asian game called Go (aka baduk, wei-qi) and other challenging board games. Bring your favorite game along to show-and-tell. Be willing to teach it to others. But please, no card games! Our club is for board games, like these: Chess, Go, Abalone, Cathedral, Gobblet, Quarto, Quixo, Quoridor, Scrabble, and Scoring Anagrams. Too busy to play games on Sunday? Check out the Syracuse Go Club and the Syracuse Boardgamers Club to play on other days. Chess players meet on Monday evenings in the food court at the Carousel Mall. And the High Noon Chess Club meets at Toomey Abbott Towers on the third Sunday of the month. Sell Your Old Books & Games!Players are encouraged to bring gently-used books and game equipment to sell or trade. That includes chess, Go, and any challenging board games. We host a sales table for your convenience. Games must be in good condition and have all the pieces. Please price and label each item with your name in advance. Bring your wallet, too! 2nd Annual Calthrop Chess Championship — Nov 15, 2008We will host the 2nd annual Samuel Calthrop Chess Championship, on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Check this site for details next fall, or visit our Yahoo! Group for the latest news. The first event on December 1, 2007 drew 29 players from across Central New York.
